I have a 99 2WD, stock suspension. When the front end gets compressed when going going slow over a bump or coming to the end of a down-slope, I hear a muted Pop sound front the right front. Driveability is fine, alignment is fine, and a visual inspection came up empty. Any usual suspects on this?

Thank God i'm not the only one. When my front suspension gets compressed unevenly it makes a popping sound, it bugs the hell out of me.

Pop noise

Warform- now that I think about it, it only does it when the front end is compressed unevenly just as you say. Yeah, at least I'm not the only one......

It drives me NUTS!!!
Can anyone help us identify the problem? It's really annoying when you go fourwheeling.

But...since you're 2wd and it's happening to you, at least we can rule out that it's the 4wd components, if it's the same noise.

Bumpity bump

I had the same problem. A while back I experimented by taking off my front sway bar. It defenitly swayed more and road smoother, but the popping noise was gone. When i put the bar back on, it did it again, My conclusion is that it is the bushings compressing from the articulation.

If the swaybar removal doesn't take the problem away it is probably ball joints needing replacement.

Yeah, the balljoints would definetly cause popping and bad ride quality.

popping noise

Ride quality hasn't changed at all, tire wear is even. I'll check out suspension on a lift, but I like suggestion of swaybar bushing compression making the noise. I'll just live with it if thats the case. Thanks all.

could be a loose tie rod...mine did that.
