Hi guy's,
I tried searching this topic prior to posting, but all seem to address humming or groaning coming from the front end. I recently developed a squeal / grinding noise coming from the right front end. It is proportianate to speed and is there in 4WD or 2WD. Its still there when I apply the brakes. It's not a constant noise, it seems to squeak at the same spot when the wheel rotates through a full 360 degrees. I jacked up the front and spun the wheel and the pads do drag a little when the rotor turns. Its hard to simulate the same conditions when jacked. Could it be a possible front wheel bearing? I would appreciate any ideas and help from you guys out there.

....Since you posted in the Ranger forum, I take it your vehicle is a 97 Ranger XLT???

...My thoughts on your brief description is it could be from a couple different things...My first theory would be the front bearings...If it has not been maintained in a while and since you have the squeak commonly while driving, I would say bypass repacking the bearings and get a new set of bearings for both sides...

...Also, when you go to do the bearings, you may find that you have a loose spindle nut on that side...;)
