Front end towing winch?

I am interested in rigging a front end removable winch. I figured I have to get a hitch mounted first, but would like to know if this is a practical or usable method for towing in rescue situations. I would mainly like to be able to pull myself out of a sticky situation with this set-up. I already have a rear Type III hitch, and would like to find a winch that adapts to this. Any suggestions or shared experiences would be appreciated.

I was thinking of the same thing. The biggest drawback is that the winch and mount don't like to pull sideways. Warn makes a sled to carry the winch. Check out their site.
