That's fairly vague, but it makes me think shock absorbers...

What kind of shake? Side to side, up and down? Rapid or slow?
How about some more details on your truck?
How fast are you going when you hit the bumps and the problem occurs?

Did you do any recent repairs? Could be the typical air in the power steering system which give your symptoms.

Ford ranger 4x4 extended cab 3.o liter iwas diving at about 35 mph hit road bumps steering wheel started pulling lefy and right and shaking. I also just put new rotors and brakes.whe i hit the brakes it stop shaking

Did you turn the wheels to get to the brake hardware. If you did you got air in the power steering system. There is a tool to get the air out but you can try this. Start car and turn wheels all the way to left and hold there and then shut car off and let it sit for like 15 minutes. Open the ps reservoir and look at the fluid, you will probably see air bubbles in the fluid. Take it for a drive and should be good.

Any time you turn the wheels while the engine is off the power steering system gets air in it. It's very easy to fix. With the engine running, turn the steering lock to lock 3 or 4 times. Do not hold it in the lock position as this puts strain on the pump. You can do this while moving slowly so as not to put much strain on the system while it's purging.

just back from front end shop they say nothing wrong in front end but that i need shocks. does that sound right.
