96 explore with cotrol trac 4wd and i know that the xcase is engageing cause the front drive shaft is under perssure when i get under the truck and check any answers would be helpful thanks i was also wondering if the vacumes lines on the front end should have pressure on them when it is in 4wd

You don't have hubs.. You have live cv axles.. I suspect there's a problem with your xfer case, especially if your 4WD lights flashed.. Try cleaning the shift motor and see if that helps.

You may also want to look at the front axle disconnect. On the '96's, there is a vacuum module that locks and unlocks the right inner front axle shaft from the outer front axle shaft. If there is a vacuum leak, or the module is broken/jammed, it won't engage and the lights flash. Have someone watch your truck when you put it in 4wd and roll forward. If the front driveshaft is turning, I'd look for a problem in the vacuum module, if it's not turning, take Blee1099's advice and look into xfer case problems.

i think it might be the vacume moudle i was wondering if there is any way to check that and if it could possible be somthing else that engages the front end
