I went to use the 4wd today and pushed the button and the hubs act like they wont engage. All I can hear is a clicking noise from the wheel. When I turn the button off and back up I believe the noise quits. I think the button works and the hubs are trying to engaga but are not going all the way. any ideas? the clicking noise occurs when I am moving, just to be a little more clear.

my one front auto hub has started to make a clicking noise only when it is engaged . does that mean it is wore out? i'm thinking of switching to warn manuals, how much should they cost??

sounds like the hubs are blown or are going out.... try switching to manuals, they arent as convienient as the autos, but at least you know they will work..... the hubs and conversion kit can be gotten for around $200 a lot cheaper than new autohubs that you never know when they will wear out....

Definately hubs. Go to manuals. I have a write--up on my website, goto Repairs/mods section.

hubs

Thanks for all the info. fellas I will check it out.

I have the same problem but with my 95 x. I think it might have parts of the 94's or something considering i got it in january of 95. Is there a conversion kit for this or is auto hubs the only way?

Your front suspension and hubs on the '95 are completely different than the '91-'94.

I changed my automatic hubs on my 91 for about $130. If you look around enough, you can find stuff cheaper. I think I got my spindle nut kit from Clemson 4 Wheel parts?(I think but am not sure). I think I got the kit for ~$10. I got the Warn manual hubs from carparts.com with one of the dicount coupons they used to run Four Wheeler magazine. Their regular price is ~$180 (I think, but it's been a while since I switched my hubs). You just have to look for the deals where you can get them.
