just bought 98 xlt 3 months ago and just today front right brake making LOUD scraping noise - and I mean LOUD - out of the blue . On last vehicle got really screwed on brake jobs - pls advise idea of what exactly you think is wrong and maybe a good, honest shop in Oceanside ,CA...

Maybe thats the brakes almost worn down. make sure your not chewing up your rotors. Just look through the rim and you can see the pads and the rotor. if you got deep groves in the rotor, you've buggered them. If not you may have the early signs of a worn pad. just look at the pad thickness. Do you know when the font brake pads where changed last? If that right pad is really worn out have the machanic check your brake caliper. It may be freezing up.

I doubt you have a seized up caliper, but you may have uneven pressure in the lines. But more than likely you just need to change your brakes. But now with all the screaming and stuff, you probably went metal to metal. This means either new rotors or resurfacing (which might not be possible - has to meet a certain amount of thickness). Good luck.
