OK, after buying the Warn manuals from Bill quite a while back, I finally got around to putting them on. Took it out for a test drive today and got squat! Jacked up the whole truck and locked the hubs. Pushed 4WD button and the front driveshafts are turning, but not the wheels. Shift to N and push low, back to D... now the wheels are turning. I remember someone telling me to check the wheels to make sure they have power. I put my foot on the wheel(yes, I have leather shoes on) and the wheel stops(checked both sides). What do I need to check next??

It seems like the transfer case is working(spinning the front driveshaft).
The front pumpkin is working(the axles are turning).
The only thing I can think of is the hubs...

I followed the instructions on the home page that someone had so nicely sent in, but they still no worky. All searches I tried didn't help........

Little help guys, gals... Thanks!

Well of course they will stop. :D You don't have a locker up front. No resistence=the one that turns.

I wouldn't do that!! You run the possibility of jerking the truck off the jackstands and doing some major damage to either you or the truck if you leave one wheel on the ground with the vehicle running.

You can test it with the engine off since you now have manual hubs. Put the truck into four wheel drive while the vehicle is running (to engage the xfer case), then shut the truck off. Lift the front wheels off the ground, lock your hubs in and turn one wheel while watching the other. The opposite wheel should turn backwards. If it does, your hubs are locked in properly.

OK, idiot me.. :) I was thinking the front end was at least a limited slip...( Ok, front-open diff, rear is a LS - got it! ) After talking to Lee and Clint in the chatroom yesterday I found that piece out. I did try the rear wheels up and one front wheel off the ground at a time and put it in drive and had another person slowly release the brakes. When the rear wheels began to turn so did the lifted front wheel. Both sides did that, so according to Lee/Clint,..the Warn hubs are functioning like they are suppose to. How about that,....still learning after all these years. I guess old dogs can still learn new tricks.

BTW, It only took me about 45 minutes to do the whole thing(install the new hubs). The worst part was trying to torque the outer nut to 150ft-lbs.(according to these directions[ http://www.explorer4x4.com/tips2.html#hub ] especially with that 4 pin socket. But it is done and they work. Thanks again.

heck, i think leebo told me to try this when i put on my warns...... i did it and it worked..... if you jerk the truck off the jackstands it will only fall a few inches anyway....

O sure!!! It works for everybody else but me...

I tried it...and sure enough mine almost sliped off....go figure. Goober...the best way to check....GO OFFROADING

Offroading??, Won't that get my pretty truck dirty? Dead Link Removed
