:us: I pulled up to a stop sign and my 91 Explorer died. Heavy fuel smell. Would not restart. Had to tow home. Error code not a help. Had power, Fuel pump working, had fuel, had spark, Starter worked, still would not start. Injectors clean, Had wet fuel on plugs. To much wet fuel. Had raw fuel in all vacuum lines (not good). Found that the fuel pressure regulator had failed and sent too much fuel to the injectors. It failed so bad that it sent raw fuel through the vacuum line that is attached and into the entire vacuum system.

Nasty, but fairly common. I worked on a Cadillac many years ago with a bad FPR. The motor had ingested so much fuel it hydrolocked. When I jacked the car up to change the oil (diluted with fuel) raw gas seeped out of the exhaust system where the connections were pressed together and clamped. NASTY!

You know what is funny. I called Ford and they told me there was no way for fuel to get into the vacuum system.

Service advisors have become more useless than ever. That's who I assume you talked to since they barely ever let you talk to a mechanic.

They are nothing but salesmen, and all they do is jack up the bill. That is their job
