The 1998 4.0 V6 has had a problem for over 8 months, the warning light comes on and stays on, some times after 20 miles and up to 150 miles.
Each time it is returned to the dealer they find no fault they say but it still comes back on, they in the end contacted Ford direct and they sent a guy from there technical department he could not find any problem ( but the light came back on )the O2 sensers and gaskets have been changed by them.
I noticed a posting about the fuel filler cap so it was replaced and after 260 miles the light had not come on.
I advised the dealer, and they contacted Ford Technical who have revisited and checked it again, they now say that they think the fuel pressure is to high, this is the cause of the light comeing on, they have carried out some work on it but are unable to fix the high fuel pressure !
I will use it over the next few days to see if the light comes on !!!!
Any coments are welcome

The Fuel Pressure Regulator is prone to going bad. Have you noticed a significant drop in MPG? That's usually one of the results of a bad one.
