- 2005 Explorer XLT
Hello All,
I have a 2005 Explorer XLT with the regular 4.0L (not the flex fuel) with only 38K on the clock. About a few weeks ago, the truck died while driving. I towed the car home and replaced the fuel pump with a napa part. All was fine for 3 days, when the same thing happened again. Took the truck to an authorized ford dealership ( I know, last resort) and they claimed the napa part was drawing too much current and popping the fuse in the power distribution box. A week and a half later got the truck back all fine and dandy. 2 days later, the same exact thing happened while driving (after I went to a car wash). Tried replacing the fuse 3 times, but each time the fuse blew as soon as i turned the ignition. I am fine with doing regular work on a car, but electrical and finding shorts (which i am very sure it is) is definitely something I have ZERO experience with. Anyone on this site have any clue as to what it could be? It baffles me that the truck could be fine for a few days and have the same problem re-occur. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (PS the dealership said they checked for shorts)
