Well I've come to the conclusion that my fuel pump needs replacing. I would like to do this on my own because it doesn't look like much of a project. Has anybody here done this on their own? How did it go?

I replaced mine last summer. Not because the fuel pump was bad, but because the steel gas line just outside the tank was rusted and leaking fuel. I had to buy the whole assembly (fuel pump, gage sender and "drum bung") to replace the pipe.

It was not difficult. Drain as much gas out as you can, Be careful removing the assembly from the tank since you have to fanagle it to get it out and back in. The locking ring that holds the assembly in place is thin and can be weakened by rust. I advise you to have a new one available.

I'm thinking I also had to use my gas line disconnect tool.

I did it with the back-end on ramps,

Good luck!
