First off, hello everyone.. im new here.

So yea, while i was driving my 1991 ford explorer the truck turned off without warning. after checking multiple things and replacing the fuel pump and filter we saw that the fuel relay switch was not working properly and the fuse was blowing one after the other. Now, i took the EEC IV off and tested the yellow/black wire and there are no problems with that. Im pretty sure, but it looked as if the area where the EEC IV box was has gotten wet in the past.

So i guess my question is, has anyone had these problems before? If so, how did you fix them? Right now the EEC box is sitting on top of my monitor warming up, I am thinking that it's a little wet from the looks of the place it sat in the truck.

Did you replace the fuel pump relay itself? I replaced my fuel pump, and later on had zero fuel pump action, which turned out to be a bad fuel pump relay. Popped a new one in and had no problems since.

If that's been done, have you checked the fuses are the right amp rating? You might also want to check if the fuel pump shutoff was tripped, and hit the reset switch under the passenger side carpet behind the firewall.

I had some old wiring in the back end by where the pump harness is and the insulation was cracked that kept causing my fuel pump relay fuse to blow. I taped it up with electical tape and hasn't blow since. Don't know if there's a correlation or not, but as long as she runs I'm happy!

Well we used the battery to test the relay switch and it clicks like it should and the pump would shoot out gas like it should as well. would that make a difference in weather or not the switch is bad? Sounds like a short in a wire somewhere.

The last post sounds like something to look at. I was going over some pretty harsh terrain a little before the truck shut off. I'll have to check up on that.

The flow of electric is... ignition switch to PCM, PCM to fuel pump relay, FP relay to inertia switch, IS to fuel pump. If you turn the ignition key on and the CEL is on, the the PCM is ok. If you were off roading when it happened, I'd suspect a short somewhere. Also, make sure that the plug on the bottom of the inertia switch is firmly attached.

well strangely enough, it has nothing to do with the fuel pump ... I traces the problem to the Head Bulb fuse.. took it out and the truck starts right up and doesn't blow any fuses. so now i gotta find out where the short is in the head bulb wire set..
