So I was tracking down the power issue with my rear passenger power port and I found it to be a simple blown fuse. (it had been not working since I bought the thing) Anyway while I was checking fuses I found that I have fuses in locations for options I dont have on my Explorer, Like Subwoofer, and Trailer Brakes. Its odd to me that Ford would install Fuses in these locations since I don't believe I have either of those options! Are these fuses powering something else and its just not shown in the owners manual?

Usually they don't put unecessary fuses in. One way to find out is to pull the fuse and see what happens or to take a volt meter to the fuse in question and see if it has any load on it.

I did pull the fuses but didn't hear or see anything change! I will have to get the meter out and see whats up! I looked at my Window Sticker for my truck and I see no mention of Trailer Brakes or a powered subwoofer!

I'm guessing you bought it used as your fixig this yourself. I will venture to guess the previous owner may have put the extra fuses in there thinking they needed them, or as a place to store extra fuses.

Well the previous owner had meticulous records from ford so I doubt it was ever touched by anyone out side of a Dealer until I bought it! I do my own repairs unless it is rebuilding a Engine or Transmission. I will put the meter on it today and see if it has power and a load.

Ok after looking at this further here is what I have determined!

I have a fuse in location 22 its a 20 amp Fuse and according to my manual that position is for the Subwoofer!

I also have a fuse in location 28 its a 20 Amp fuse and its listed as Heated Seats.

Now according to my Window sticker I show no option for either of these items!
I test both of these fuses and they both have 12 volts of power supplied to them with the key off!

Anybody have a Factory Service manual that can look this up and find out what else these 2 circuits could be powering for me!
