That should not be a problem. It changes nothing in the key when you do the programming. What you are doing is teaching the PATS system to recognize and accept the unique RFID of that particular key.Can you program the same key to two PATS systems, or will the original vehicle have to be re programmed?
I have a PATS chart and it says that 98~2001 Ex 4-door use PATS "B" and 2002~2005 use PATS "E" (the same incompatible PATS "E" that my 2003 Ranger had). The chart only goes through 2005MY so the Fusion is not on the list. However, it appears that you may be out of luck regarding using the Fusion key in a Gen2 Ex.I wonder if I could get lucky enough that my 01 would have a newer pats system?
Could the transponder be transplanted to the fusion key from a regular key?
