fusion key

Got my Fusion key by USPS today, sat there in the post office lot and programmed the keyless and everything works properly. Went to the nearest locksmith and had the key cut, and I sat on his lot and set up the transponder. Now I don't have the rattling keyless fob slappin the column when I hit the dirt road. Very very nice. :-)

What's up guys, I am brand new to this site, but this thread is ridiculous, I just sat here for half an hour reading every word. I just bought an '02 Eddie Bauer, but only have one key, was wondering if anyone knew how much it costs to have a deal program a second key so I can get this process started, because my mom has a fusion, and the all in one key is just so much easier, and my keyless entry is already starting to crack where it atatches to the key ring. Thanks for the help guys.

when i got my second one made it was a rediculous price... 30 for the key (from them) and 89 for programming (also done by them)... idk if a locksmith is handy in ur area but that mite cost u less... and if u were to get a key programmed by a locksmith, he mite be able to do the fusion one to the car without a second one if hes good enough... the ford dealers r gunna say the fusion key wont work but theyre full of crap... the second key is the best and easiest fix... i suggest getting one off ebay for very cheap... a much better deal than getting it at a dealer

Just thought I would throw in a comment and ask a question.

First there is NO WAY to implant the chip from another key into the Fusion key. You can open the fusion key but all you have access to is the battery everything else is sealed up. I used a dremmel and opened one up for the heck of it and there is NO room to get anything in there.

I tried programming a key to work with my Mach 1, I did get the keyless to work but for some reason could not get PATS to program to the new key.

I think I am going to try another Fusion key on the Mach and see if maybe the first one was just a fluke.

I picked up an 03 Explorer last night, it has the fob with the L/UL/Panic/glass pop on it. Has anyone succesfully gotten both the PATS system and the keyless functions to work using a fusion key??

ALL FUNCTION WORK ON MINE NO PROBLEMS...

You'll need the Edge key in that case. They don't have the trunk button. Let me know how the transplant goes. I'd really like to do this.

EDGE AND FUSION IS THE SAME KEY...

Best thing to do, is just order the key from someone online, then take it to any locksmith and have them cut the key. Most online sellers are kind enough to include instructions to program the remote and code the key. Or a good locksmith can do it for you in most cases.

No, the Edge doesn't have a trunk button. Other than that they are the same.

regardless of the trunk button, itll work on pretty much any 02+ ford vehicle... i sold my extra key to my friend with an 05 f150... works like a charm

My hatch pop works now. Go figure.

For those having trouble getting the glass to pop. Try pushing the button twice according to transponder island it is a double tap button.

Do they make a Fusion key with remote start instead of the glass pop like my standard fob is? Or do Fusions with remote start get the old, separate fobs like I have? I'd love to do this, but I would like to have my remote start on there instead.

Got a quick question for everyone with the Fusion key. You ever have a problem with the remote getting outta sync with the keyless module in the truck? Mine would lock the truck, then if I had to unlock it again within a few seconds (like forgetting something in the truck) it won't work. I have to keep pressing buttons or hold lock and unlock together for a few seconds to get it to start working. It started doing it so often, I ended up using one of my original keys and remote fobs to be sure I can get into my truck. I tried reprogramming the keyless system, but that only helped for a few days. I never had a problem with the new key until a couple months ago. Any hints?

I used to have this happen with my original fob...
would work for the drivers door, then it wouldn't unlock the rest or the hatch..
Id tap on the fob... sometimes it would work sometimes it wouldn't..then the next day it would be fine again.

Hasnt happened since I got the fusion key though...

Got my fusion keys cut today, and programmed the keys so that they start the truck, unlock it manually etc, but cannot get the remote buttons to work. Anyone got any ideas?

I've checked batteries etc in the remote, and even with new batteries, the remote still won't work on the Ex. I've followed the method in post 54; is there anything more I need to do?

I would assume that I can use the same process for a Fusion key on my '99 SHO? I think I'd like to have one...

I dont think so. The fusion key uses the PATS II system, and I dont think a 99 SHO does.
I believe the pats II system came out in 02.
Check first.

Yep - that's about right, which is why I can't understand why I can't program the fusion remotes to my truck.
