FX4 tow hook idear

well i was lookin at an FX4 ranger parked beside me about a week ago and realized that the opening in the front bumper is almost smaller than one on a '99 X. so i was thinkin that if i could get my hands on some FX4 hooks from Ford i would be in business for tow hooks in the front. the frames look almost identical, so does anyone wanna chip in to help me out? let me know what you think.

Tell ya what... I'll front you half the cost of the hooks, you figure out how to make it work... and then when I buy mine, you pay half. Deal?

So where do the FX4 tow hooks mount/come through the bumper?

TarHeel... I PM'd DeserSpive to see if he has any pics of his front bumper b/c he's got the FX4 package. Looks like the front ends of the new Rangers and the '01 Sports are pretty darn close... Do you think the '01 Sport tow hooks would be similar to the FX4's?

(But then again, when I do a BL, I wouldn't be able to use these tow hooks ~ even if we got them to fit...)

hehe, yeah that would work. lemme get a pick of his truck. i think they are pretty much the same bumper just a little dif. and no im pretty sure that newer sports have big ole openings that the hooks go through. here:

Haha.. could've used a tow hook or 2 in that pic eh?

I just parked next to an FX4 and took at close look at its bumper/tow hooks. They are attached to a cross member between the frame rails, it was pretty dark outside so i can't tell if we have the same cross member or attachment points on our X's. we may have it there, but it may require some slight bumper trimming (just the plastic skin). I guess this would be something where you would have to buy the tow hooks and see if you could make em work. The hooks are kinda cool though, not a normal hook per say... More like a piece of round stock that was bent into a loop sorta thing.


EDIT: I'll tell ya what Tarheel, I'll be dam'd if'n we ain't got more room in our bumpers than they do. Look at the height of the cut out around the license plate on that yellow splash and compare it to the cut out on yours... I be we could make this work ~ we may be pioneers for the solution that '99+ X's have been lookin' for! (Too bad I'm almost 4 hours from you though)
