Ok all you supercharged powerheads out there... what kinda of Mileage are you getting. This is ridiculous. I am lucky to get 10mpg and maybe 12 on the highway. What's the deal? O2 seems perfect. Plenty of exhaust flow. Clean filter. Good gas. What's the deal?

Mike

your truck is still lifted right!?? Maybe thats affecting the mileage, plus with your mods I know I'd have a serious lead foot!;)

are you ever running rich? (I'm sure you are). How bad is the black smoke/rich smell at idle?

bad andy...

DonM - It's never been great but it is at it's all-time bad now. It seems as though I get better gas mileage when I DO have a lead foot (and I do).

SaleenXP - It is still lifted but do you really think that would make a huge difference. Granted, I bet my trip meter is off a little but it's nowhere even close to good.

Mikke - looks like you are in the same boat as me. I do alot of city driving and I think it may be cheaper to throw a festiva in the trunk and take it out when I have to go somewhere after I get to work. Filling the tank twice a week ain't fun at all!

Alec - About running rich, yeah, of course but only when I floor it. There is NO smoke at startup and fumes aren't bad at all at idle.

Hmmmmm, could someone have fiddled with the FMU; I assume you have an adjustable fuel management unit. That would leave everything else the same, but increase your max fuel pressure, so at WOT you'd really be running rich.

Other possibilities: a leaky injector, vacuum leak, computer in need of reset, bad tranny (but probably not).....many more due to the whole modded factor.

BTW, I average about 13 mpg.

I get between 15-18 mpg out of my '01. I got a hell of a lot better mileage out of my '92 Sport, about 20-21 mpg. I think the new X's with the TOD xfer cases suffer greatly on mileage due to all the rotating components in the front end.

I can get 18 mpg on the hwy if I want to, but it's sooooo hard ;) I could get even better if I detuned the truck, but where's the fun in that?

Best mileage I ever got out of my '01 was 20 mpg. That was when it was brand new and I had to take it on a short business trip (company vehicles were out). I babied the hell out of it. Since then, I'm closer to 15, but the mileage has come up recently since I unloaded some weight from the vehicle (skid plates) and took the locker out. Last two tanks were about 17.5 mpg.

I agree with ya Alec (:D), it's no fun driving for optimized fuel economy. I'm usually on the throttle pretty hard. It's rare for my X to shift below 5k rpms.

whiney whiney...

no, not the butthole surfers, my truck. I get this loud whine when I have my foot on the gas. SOunds like it is coming from the rear end or the transfer case. Is that normal on an AWD truck?
