Ok so I removed the cover and metal knee plate. The cable and thumb wheel are right there in plain sight. As I started to adjust the thumb wheel, I noticed it was not moving either way I moved it. So I pulled on the cable from behind the white clip and away from the wheel. It moved the indicator right to the center of Park. Sooooo the fix for me was to actually do like the gas pedal fix using the zip ties. I placed some small plastic 1/8 thick washers in between the cable end and the white plastic brace for the thumb wheel. I just cut one edge so they would twist open and slipped them over the cable end. So I guess I owe some credit to the OP of the gas pedal fix using the zip ties, for my gear indicator being fixed.
See how info here can be so useful.
