gears the same?

does anyone know if i can install 2 sets of mustang 8.8 rear end gears on my 1993 explorer,are the stock gears identical i know the ratios are the same but are the gear designs the same thanks for your help want to use 4.11 i have 35 inch tires and truck is a pig right now

8.8" gears are 8.8" gears.

4.10 isn't near enough gear for 35s though, I'd get 4.88 or maybe even 5.13, depending on what it's gonna be used for.

Something sounds a little funny here.
Are you asking if they will also fit the front axle? Because you would only need 1 set of 8.8 gears, not 2. You would need a set of D35 gears for the front axle. (matching ratios of coarse.)
 






also i dont think all 8.8 gears are the same.there is 3 different types of 8.8 axles and all three are different so doubt the gears are all the same.but X4 on 4.10 is not enough,4.88 or 5.13

The gears dont care what spline axles, how long they are, if there are disc or drum brakes. As long as they are from a low pinion housing, they can go into a low pinion housing. You just cant swap a set from a high pinion front 8.8 (Expedition, f150) into a low pinion rear.

so all the pinions are the same size and spline count?
