BMRA details...

Here's a couple of posts for info I got on Barnwell Mountain before our August run.

Having read those, I have some stuff to add now that we've been there.

The showers suck, to be precise. The water pressure goes from just enough down to a trickle and then back up again. If you time it right, you can get most of the shampoo out of your hair. This may not be a problem if it's not too hot and you (like me) think camping means taking a shower when you get home.

The food vendor is pretty good. Better than balogna and easier than driving all the way into town.

The "clearly marked trail system" is a joke. There are good signs, but unless you've run the trail before, you will get lost. Plan on it. Scout ahead before making a turn so you don't get in over your head.

If you stay Friday and Saturday nights, buying a membership is only $5 more than paying the non-member fees. Then, it will be cheaper when you come back.

Bone-stocker first-timers can do several of the trails out there. Even some of the harder trails have good by-passes. Swak's one-wheel drive could do most of the easy (two diamond) trails with minimal strapping.

hey darkman, i am working on getting a locker for the rear and regear to 4.10. so, maybe if this trips goes well, i might be able to actually do some wheeling. i am also workin on skid plate and slider. we shall see, eh?

It may be tough for you to wheel with only 2 wheel drive michael.

light wheeling are fun too, brad. that is why we wheel, to see waht we can and cannot do. u never know.... with the right wind blowing and right angel of the sun, i might just be able to play too....of course, not the 3 or 4 diamond trails.

I'll make sure to bring a fan and a bright flashlight :)

anyway,... um, ok i forgot, will get back to ya later :p

Man I havnt posted in a while, but here I am, Me and Mudduck may come it just depends. My digital camera crapped out last week when I was suppose to post new pics so this weekend I finally got around to buying a new camera and they will be up soon, and I'm not to far from being done, although the rino liner will have to wait for a few months.

So you really did in, MSupertek? I really cut up that perfectly good Ex? LOL

I can't wait to see the pics.

Looks like I'll have to back out for the run. The wife and I are putting all our hobby money into savings for a house. So no wheeling and no RC car stuff for me. But, I'll still be here on the board.

I've only been to Barnwell once, but I'll offer what I do know about the easier trails for one-wheel drives, etc. :D

hey darkman, dont cost u anything to wheel. just dont break anything. camping is free. 15 bucks to get in. andgas.. taht is it.. come on man... u can do it.

Don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't want to. The wife and have have both vowed to give up our hobbies until we have a house.

just dont break anything

That is the key, isn't it.

The gate and camping fees aren't bad (you DO have to pay to camp.) The gas is the real killer (asside from the risk of breakage). Right now, I'm so close to work that I'm making those $30 tanks of gas last 2-3 weeks.

Anyway. Don't let me ruin the party. You guys go and have fun! Supertek's "Convertable" Ex should be fun to follow.

I'm sure that a two-wheeler can do Clydes ravine. If you can't cut the hard stuff, the by-passes are smooth and flat. Whatever is another trail that you might consider. It's a lot of fun, real twisty. You just have to use your momentum. There's by-passes there too.

Well I just got my heads done, now it's on to the short block, if I cant hit my dead lines for Moab then I guess I'll settle for a Gilmer run.

Hardazz. I think you'll find that the folks on this board don't let their brand loyalty become brand bigotry. We'll wheel with anybody! :D

If you'll check a little further up this thread, I posted some thread links to all the info I have on BMRA and Gilmer, including prices.

Gilmer is due east of DFW about two hours out. It's just north and west of Longview, if that helps.

So who will be there? No ifs, ands, or buts? I have alot to do between now and then so I need to know that some will make it.

Rowing my boat as fast as I can sir! :D
