Where did you find a 12 foot sub, much less 12 of them? Do you mean 12 - 12" subs?

 Well on the inside of the vehicle, it'll sound good for a while until you go deaf from them and it won't sound like anything because you won't be able to hear nothing. Please tell me you aren't listening to the Grand Old Opry on 12- 12" subs. LOL. On the outside, that many 12s will probably rattle things so loose in, on, and around the X, that it will sound like a really loud stereo with blown speakers because of everything rattling. Good luck.
Peace

i have four 12s right now and rattling isnt bad but 12 will be great and it will not be a sit in and listen to ill burp it from a head unit outside the x

You probably won't understand this right now, but put the money, that you would spend on this setup, into a savings account. You are seventeen years old, and in 1-4 years, you will want this money for a better cause than impressing people with your stereo system. This could be college money, apartment deposit money, etc.

I doubt you will listen to any of this, but this is my advice from someone who was in your shoes a few years ago.

this is not onw of those impress ur freinds thing i want to go to a spl recond this is a setup i have had brought to my attention by the guy that does all my stuff

English?

edit: nevermind..........I am going to get out of this thread while I am still being nice....................good luck with whatever you do!!!!

i dont care if others like it

i want a state record or greater

its planily like a sport and i am consumed in it

Translation: This isn't one of those things where I have to beat my friends spending. I want to go to a competition and beat people I don't know's spending. This setup is a bunch of things my installer has laying around and wants to sell.

:P

On a more serious note, I'm 19. I'm going to be starting as a Sophomore in college in August, along with paying my own Insurance, Housing, Gas, etc, etc. I got totally *****ed out by my old man for spending 500 dollars on a system, 500 bucks which I saved by parking my truck over the summer and not starting the insurance or doing any transferring of titale until August when I leave. Spending that kind of money on a system is insanity, unless you've got an unlimited budget, in which case I doubt you'd be driving a '91 Explorer.

Also, keep in mind that big shots at these big Car Audio companies acn easily buy themselves an Excursion, stuff about 50 15" top quality subs in it, and give it enough juice to power a small city. Your attempt for a record will end very quick. And you'll probably damage your truck in the process. I know I wouldnt do that to my baby.

the class ill be running in will not be with audio companes they run in a extreme class
i wont be running with the biggest people.
ill be in the higest super street class

Will a record honestly buy you anything in the future...dude get realistic I'm 16 and can see that this is a plan pulled right out of the ****ter....Get enough stuff to sound good and quit...wait till you can actually AFFORD this stuff like after college...why do you think you don't see any young kids in competitions...WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE WERE BROKE ASS KIDS!!!! And as for like getting respect or something for having a record beating system...you'll prolly just get laughed at for blowing all your money on something this ridiculous when your that young...and finally just out of curosity WHERE IN THE HELL ARE YOUR PARENTS OR SOMEBODY OLDER THEN YOU THAT CAN WALK OVER AND SMACK SOME DAMN SENSE IN YOUR HEAD??

I'm done with my rant and my final comment is... :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:

the thing is with sound comps, if you work in the industry, are sponsored or even get equipment at below wholesale prices you're a pro. If you buy everything on your own, you're in a seperate amature class. When i worked at circuit city I was considered pro and that's why I never entered my truck.

im not some broke kid. my parents dont pay a dime on it. i have got a job just to support by habbits. it goes good because im not in the indurtry.
and where are ur parents to smack some sence into u to get a job and not be broke

there is nothing wrong with blowing big $$$ on something u want. if u want it u got to do what it takes to get it. i've blown major money on stereo systems. used to be a big thing to me. not important any more. but like he said. its a hobby. something to do. like we don't blow crazy money on our trucks anyways. i know i do and no i'm not even close to being rich. what i make is pretty damn pathetic. but i manage it in a way in order to get what i want. there is no point in having $$$ if u can't enjoy it. and my truck is my hobby. an expensive one but it keeps me busy... interested... out of trouble and happy... so if thats what u want then go for it! impractical... YOU DAMN RIGHT IT IS. but whatever. have fun with it.

thats what im saying im about to spend the money on a lift for my x to. its the same thing. all upgrades

Just thowing my peice in. I spent money on a system, ran it for about 6 months and sold it. I plan on asking my lady to marry me and I'll be damned if we have no money saved. I'd rather save up to put a down payment on a house, buy some land. I guess certain things are more important to different people. Yes I do spend some small amounts of money here and there, but nothing major.

I'm not trying to flame you or come off as aggresive. Just saying my peice is all.

I didn't see the thread titled as what do you think of me spending my own money on my own hobbies, and what have your life experiences been. Do what you'd like....

But Just FYI on topic, I dont know what kind of amplification or electrical upgrades your thinking of, that might help in thinking about the setup. And make sure you measure everything a million times lol. I'd bet you'd have to do an angled clamshell kind of thing for the installation of that many drivers in an ex.

To each their own. I could think of alot worse things you could be spending your money on! I personnaly wouldn't, but it is no more senseless than lowering a truck 1 or 2' from the ground. It's a truck! But people do that too for their own reasons. I even know a few people that lifted their truck but live in the city and NEVER go off roading anyways. That's just to impress people too, although functional as well if you use it! If that's what YOU want, go for it. Who cares what anyone else thinks.
Peace

12-12" subs for spl

Hey bro, I am going to stick to the subject here and answer your question. I think that if you think you can do it and put 12 subs back there, you had better go big, because if you don't, people are gonna laugh. You need to get a good brand and an awesome set up. I hope the dude that said how to do it is not getting the best of you. I have six 12 in subs in my 01 sport, and it beats. I was looking at putting six more in there. Where do you work? I am in the Marine Corps so I don't have to worry about anything. I eat free and live free, so I spend every dime I make. Check out my Before and After add called "Show X In The Making". I will post pics later of stereo. They are being developed.

OK kid, educate yourself first on car stereo and the auto audio competition class rules before you follow your installers requests for "3x the system" you have now. He's a businessman, dude. He wants your $$. Tripling your system would only give you about 4.5dB more than you are metering now. The best quick advice I can give is to do some research on competition classes and stereo basics. All street beat competitions are classed by wattage (i.e. 0-600W, 601W-1000W, 1001W+, so on). To realistically power twelve subs for competition burps you'd need thousands of watts. The space that twelve subs would require would pretty much mean sealing the subs. Put eight (8) 12"s in a ported system tuned to your burp frequency. Porting a sub doubles it's output (that means +3dB) at its tuned frequency. Find a bad-ass amp that is underrated that can push a low ohm load (ex: an amp that is RATED at 600W @ 2ohms COULD push 1200W @ 1ohm IF it is capable of pushing a 1 ohm load- however your wattage class will still be the 0-600W class). Done right, you'd have the output of 16 sealed 12"s at your burp frequency, and would require less wattage and about the same space as twelve sealed 12"s.If you really are considering getting into the competition scene you need to not only be addicted, but you must be very educated b/c your opponents are too. ;) GL
