I have a great idea for a mod but need to figure out how to do it. I want my explorer to be able to roll the windows up and close the sun roof when the alarm is activated. (or when I press the lock button twice on my remote.) If anyone has any ideas of how i can do this, please let me know.

buy an aftermarket alarm that has the capabilities?

Yeah, thats what I was thinking too. I'll let you know how it goes.

I believe clifford is the only alarm that has that cabilities..
but be prepared to pay out the ass for that stuff.

I have an Audivox car alarm that has the remote beeper and LCD screen. It comes with a remote start and other cool features like your remote can tell you how hot or cold the temperature is inside your car. It could even start on its own everyday on a specified time. Very cool but anyway- roll down (and up) window is optional only and my alarm guy wants $75 per window installed. With it you could roll down all your windows an inch or two during the summer to release the hot air inside the truck.

i had a Clifford with the window unit. its nice, because you can pull up with the windows down, get out, arm it, and it rolls the windows up. all you need to do is shop for an alarm that has a window roll-up function.

Why not just install a relay that supplies power to the windows when the alarm button is pushed? You can use the electrical signal that sets the alarm to activate the relay that will then use the vehicles 12 volts to roll up the windows.

well an obvious reason is because it doesnt take but a fraction of a second for the alarm to arm itself, much shorter of a time frame than would be needed to roll up any windows

just get an alarm that will do it....

Just a FYI, those alarms that have the window feature have been know to in the past to burn out the window motor. All the stereo places around me (to be exact 10) have told me this when I was looking for this feature myself. Not worth the risk if you ask me.......

Most alarms have a light to indicate that the alarm is set. The same power that lights that indicator can be used to throw the relay. If the relay was a timed relay then it would work just fine. You would just have to figure what time it takes to roll the windows up.
