These things suck in the Snow/Ice!!

What's a decent alternative for a 2WD Explorer ??

GO BFG ALL-TERRAIN K/O!!!!!!!!!

Even if all you have is a two wheel drive, if you want a good tire for snow, ice, and mud that actually wears good. Get a BFG All Terrain/Ko tires I had em before my mud terrains and before my lift, I got about 50k out of em and they are excellent on and off road. Now I have 5.5 inches of lift and 35x12.50 Mud Terrains.

Pirelli Scorpion ATs. If you do not want the "AT ride and humm", go with Michelin LTX M/S or Cross-Terrain SUVs.

I had BF All Terrains KOs on my old Explorer. I put 50k on them and they worked excellent, and had plenty of life left in them. I know what I will be replacing my Goodyears with.
Also consider Dueler ATs.

Yup, BFG AT KO.

People are soo BFG AT KO loyal... According to tirerack.com, the Yokohama Geolander AT +II has the same grip but better road manners as the AT KO... Also, the Uniroyal Laredo AWT is made by Michelin who also owns BFG. And I've heard nothing but good things about a Toyo Open Country A/T. 500 wear rating, smoother ride, etc. I've researched alot to see why (if?) the AT KO's are king. Just my 0.02

Im loyal because I thought they are great tires.
I never had any complaints about their road manners either, I drove them 90 down the freeway and didnt think they were unacceptably loud. Just my .02

I drove mine at 120 down the freeway and they were fine :D

Yea, they ride good on DRY pavement, but the SUCK AZZ in the snow!! No Lugs to throw the snow away from the treads!

I'm NOT real impressed with them on Wet pavement either.

my BFG muds have gotten me outa mud, ice, snow, and rain. anything i throw at them they throw it away and ask for more!

are the AT Revo's any good in mud and off road situations?

I haven't seen the Revos offroad, but I saw the regular Dueller A/Ts on a Izuzu Trooper (31x11.5R16) and they were awsome for an A/T. The guy had changed over from BFG A/Ts and said he would never go back. I have the 32" Duellers on and they were awsome in the 9"s of snow they got in Iowa this passed weekend. You can sure feel them grab the road in wet or dry conditions.

The tread on the Revo sure looks like it will due good...

Strange....Mine work very well in the snow. They don't have lugs to throw the snow away because they are A/T's not M/T's. M/T's will work better in the snow, but sacrifice ride quality, noise, and tire life. I've had several different types of tires (2 Firestones and a Dunlop Rover) on my X's and the BFG's are by far the best A/T I've had. Mine are also fine in the rain. I haven't had them hydroplane yet, even in heavy downpours.

When I had my ATs then also did me very well in the snow.

the all terrain ppl must like them if they know how to drive in the conditions and the ppl that don't like them must suck at driving in any other condition other than dry.

sorry for being such straight forward but the experianced wheeling ppl seem to all like them and the other don't.

It does help when you know how to drive.

My friend's girlfriend's Ex has the regular RT/S' on hers, and I've driven it once in the snow, SUCKED!

My A/T K/O's are awesome. I love them. Got me out twice this past snowstorm, and one of those times I was in past my runningboards like in Mikke's pictures of his snowstorm. I don't mind the little road noise either. I will have BFG's for as long as I have my truck... just my .02.
