I just love this web site! I have a 92 EB 4x4 that I drive and just absolutely love it.
I bought my 16 year old daughter a 93 xlt 2x4. She got it in a wreck and had to have about $2500 of body damage repaired, the Honda Civic on the other hand was totaled (Thats why I bought my daughter the Explorer, I knew this was going to happen)., The Honda rear ended her and pushed my daugter into the car in front of her, but ever since the wreck the engine shakes real bad only when it's at idle RPM (700 rpm) kind of like when you get one of the plug wires on the wrong plug (done it so I know what that feels like). Anyway, I don't have CEL on and I checked the codes which show nothing. I replaced plugs and plug wires, they needed replacing anyway, and no help. I'm about to change out the two O2 sensors and the fuel preasure regulator and clean the MAF tonight to see if that might help. What I'm worried about is that maybe the jar from the wreck threw something out of ballance in the engine (is that possible?). It doesn't shake when at higher RPM or when I step on the gas. There was no engine damage in the wreck but it was one hell of jar.
Any sugjestions at this point?
Thanks

I'd have the motor mounts checked. You may have weakened them with the impact.

Does it do it when the truck is in park or neutral??? If it only does it in gear at idle, the tranny might have taken a shot. If it does it both in neutral and in drive, I'd suspect engine mounts like Alec said.

I'd also look for things like a crushed fuel return line or something damaged in the fuel system. A buddy of mine had an Escort that went off the road and crushed the fuel return line. Thing idled horribly (running too rich) but ran fine under heavy acceleration.

go in a wreck

Check motor mounts

I'll echo the motor mounts suggestions. I have worked in collision repair for over ten years and broken motor mounts is NOT uncommon is hard front end collisions.

It seems to be worse when idleing in gear but still shakes when in park too, not as bad though. I didn't get a chance to work on the car tonight, wife had other things in mind. I will get at it in the morning. I will check out the motor mounts. I have to read up on the fuel return to find out what and where to trace, I'll do that in the morning too. Can the motor mounts be damaged even if you can't detect any damage with a visual inspection?
Thanks for all the sugjestions

Yes, they can be completely split and not noticable by just looking. If it is auto, you can usually tell by watching the engine and having someone else switch through the gears. A lot of jumping in and out of gear is usually motor mounts.

OK, I replaced the O2 sensors and cleaned MAS and reset the computer. Still doing the same thing. I'm going to replace the FPR tonight, but I'm going to AZ to buy a fuel pressure gauge first to see if there is any before and after difference. The mounts look OK I did the shift test and the engine didn't jump that much, it was smoother than my 92 EB. I'm also going to get a vacum gauge to check the vacum. IF fuel pressure or vacum isn't the problem than I'll accept defeat and take it to Ford.
