Got in an accident today

Yup, just my luck...just got new BFG all terrains yesterday after a flat tire. and today i wasnt paying attention when i took this corner and some lady hit the corner of my truck...one part of my PS headlight shattered, and the grill on that side shattered, but that's all the damage i have...im just worried about the cost of insurance for my mother now, and if im going to get my liscense suspended anyone know if your still on your 6 month probation in NYS if you get ticketed from an accident if they suspend it?? ill be off the probation before the court date..

you probably arent going to have your license suspedend for an accident...... here is CA, in the first month of having my license, i had 2 tickets and 1 accident (my fualt) my license became like a permit for 30 days, where i could only drive with a passenger licensed over 25......

That sucks.. Did you get a police report? Hopefully you did cause even minor fender benders can turn into hell. Who had the right of way? Cause if you did, its her fault and you don't have to contact your insurance company.

So.....she hit you ? Or you got in her way? You did infact get ticketed then? In Michigan, there is the whole thing about not having any tickets for 6 months before you get your unrestricted license. If you're lucky then you'll get the accident at least 6 months before your 17th birthday.

well i guess you could say i got in her way lol...i turn 17 on march 30th, and my 6 month probation is up tommorow i think, i HOPE they dont screw me over with the liscense thing..they ticketed me for fail to yield right of way

i got a speeding ticket during my 6 month initial probation. about a year and a half later i got my court date, and then another 6 months later, i got my license suspension. it was for 3 months. i believe if you get any kind of moving violation during your 6 month probation period, you will get your license suspended. but dont take my word on this. im just pretty sure that is how it works.

my 6 month probation will be up by the time of the court date...actually it's up today..the day after the accident

i dont think that will matter. my best bet is that you will get a 3 month suspension unless they somehow make a mistake on the documents or have a mix up. but best of luck man.

heh... ya I liked the way you phrased that, "I took the corner and "a lady hit me"... you weren't paying attention and took it too wide and impeded her right of way in her lane. Glad (I think) you got the ticket taken care of, I got nailed during probation on a 3 hill section and didn't brake at the bottom of one since I just had to gas it to get up the next, sure enough there was a cop at the bottom of the hill who tagged me with a 35 in a 25.
One guy in my band had a State Trooper dad and the ticket was "handled". 19yrs later I got my "first" official ticket, but that was just failure to observe a sign (Speed Limit sign) so I suffered no points and only a $135 "fee".
