I got a trans that has been rebuilt about 4-5 months ago.The explorer it was in was rolled.I want to change the fluid in it so i know it is fresh is it a good idea to pull the converter and dump out the fluid and put in fresh and put it back on the trans.Just wait till trans is in my explorer and go from there.

Not yet i didn't maybe in the next 2-weeks i think i might put in a new seal due to when it was in the back of my truck the converter slid out some and got trans fluid all over.It didn't come out the whole way but enough for some fluid to come out.I was always told if you pull the converter or if it comes out to replace the seal.I don't know how true that is but i guess better safe the sorry

Yeah good call on the seal. Easy to replace now, total nightmare later.
Hope it all goes well.

Well this thing been a nightmare found out once the diff cover was pulled all my gears were on the bottom:eek:.So got a whole other rear had that put in then the trans went in and now it is locked in 4wheel low tried everything so now the guy at the trans shop says he has to drop the transfer case and crack it open:( They found the shift fork was broken and the case was worn where the rod goes in.So he said the only way to fix it is to get a reman transfer case 1466.00. I'll take my chances on a used one that was tested
