I went to a local "shop" that is a oil change place. I told them what was wrong with my truck... the code that was read by auto zone was bank one sensor one. I bought the correct part from auto zone and gave it to the guy. forty minutes later he calls to tell me that actually 2 sensors are bad, and my power stearing fluid is black, so to fix everything I am looking at $160, with the part that I gave him.

Fast forward to last night, the problem is still happening, I bring the truck to the dealership, they just call me this morning "bad 02 sensor, bank one sensor one" and to make things worse, the dealership tells me that the sensor still has rust around it and has NOT been touched recently. I have to pay $105 for diagnostics, and if I want it fixed another 200.

What can I do, I am fuming right now.

Did you get a receipt from the initial joe-blow shop

Used a credit card or checkcard to pay?

Nope cash, I just got a phone call from the mechanic who is in vegas now, scared ****less now because he is about to lose his job if his manager finds out he did it and pocketed the money, and wants me to come pick up my cash from someone else that works there.

I guess that works, what a pussbag.

His excuse is he probably accidentally replaced the wrong part...

I gave him the part, how did you do the wrong part??

He owe's you $305.00, right?

Thats terrible that is why its hard to trust anyone doing anything on your vehicles.....

You're fortunate, you found out. Collecting $210.00 is very good, but seeing that he'll lose his job if he doesn't pay $305.00 is his fault. He risks more than just losing his job... If you're content with $210.00, it's aaaaalll good!

The bank 1 bank 2 mixup happens,
I've even typed them backwards into threads when describing. Mistakes happen.

Expect mistakes while trying to save a few bucks. Experts cost $$. This guy is willing to give you your money back. I'd say it was an honest mix up.

Not this guy...

This one doesn't sound like a mistake... If he's in doing this kind of thing, Allsounds is probably not the only victim.

No sensor was replaced, I just called the dealership and they checked all of them for me.

I agree with Donner. Get your cash, THEN call his manager. With names. Guys like this have no business doing business. If it's a side job, which a lot of wrenches do, that's another issue. However- if he used his employers shop and reputation, then took cash and pocketed it- get him bounced. He needs to go push shopping carts for a living.

And I used to push carts, so I can say that... :D

It's scary... good thing the local DMV/Automotive Board has not been contacted... after the collection, they would know too :)

I'd put the screws to him. I'd take whatever I could squeeze out of him, and still call and complain.

yeah, I wouldn't want him working on my rig!!!!!

I say we have a winner. If this guy tried to take you, he will take anybody he can. He needs to be kicked downstairs. The only reason he wants to pay you back is to minimize his pain, not make it right.

Bottom line, this guy lacks the proper instincts to be in public services. Take him out (or teach him a lesson) before he screws lots of people with less knowledge and follow up than you!
