Got scammed by local shop

BrooklynBay, this cat doesn't even want to be involved in the refund - he wants Allsounds to pick up the cash from a third party. It's only $305.00, but this fella sounds dirty, how do we know the manager is not a party to this?

Is this guy an ASE certified mechanic? If so, I would use that against him. At the very least I would get a refund, and complain to who ever I could. If more people held these shady mechanics responsible than maybe it'd be a little easier to drop a car of at a mechanic without wondering if you should have brought the lube.
I'd also consider not paying the dealer for an o2 sensor if you knew which one it was. If you srpray it with wd-40 a few times, it should be a 30 minute job, max. If you got the code I'm sure someone here could tell you which one to replace.

Not here- they would have probably sold you the lube, then used flour.

Being a long career auto tech, I understand your predicament and apologize for the industry in general, although I don't include myself in this clowns category. There are just too many of these crooks out there giving a bad rap to those of us who treat consumers as loyal customers.

HOWEVER, taking your vehicle to a LUBE SHOP for other repairs is a big mistake in the first place. Especially check engines lights or other work that requires a trained professional. Lube shops do not employ trained, experienced technicians that know how to fix your car or truck.

Flame suit on and activated!

Agreed-
The OP took his car where he knew he would pay less money.
I'll bet it was also stated up front it would be an under the table deal. C'mon, you knew what you were getting in to. It's an oil change place.

A guy gets robbed, and it's his fault?? No matter the situation, being robbed is not excusable and the blame is not to be placed on the victim. Even if the attendant worked as a greeter at a local store the day before, he doesn't have the right to rob you, and if he does, then handle your business.

Welcome to the world. It's kinda like how you don't go to a dog-breeder to buy a cat. Sure they might have some cats but for all you know they could be strays they picked up. You don't go to JiffyLube for mechanical repairs. Point is you don't know what you're getting. While I'm not agreeing with what the mechanic, it happens. You've gotta do your homework before you hand someone that doesn't have Ford stitched into their shirt a few hundred dollars.

But I hope you get money back, allsounds. It sucks to find out that you can't really trust anyone anymore.

Allsounds went to the wrong place, by mistake or by choice, granted... but it's about getting his money back and the proper repair done. And about making sure that service person is stopped (and whoever else is involved).

There is no reason a Jiffy Lube shouldn't be able to change an o2 sensor while the oil is draining out. If this A-hole would pocket money for a repair, why would he not be too lazy to not change an old ladies oil, who he knows would never check it.?
