'91 XLT
I have a basic '91 Ford Explorer XLT. It is the good 'ol brown and tan w/ roof racks. 4.0L w/ a V6. I am wanting to jack it up, but I need to find the best way to go about it. My bro' says I should go with a 3" lift, but I dont know if that is enough for me. That wouldn't leave much room for the big tires, and it leaves a big gap in the wheel-well. I am not sure what I would need to get to raise the entire thing up enough to put on 35" all terrain's on the back, and probably only 33" all terrain's on the back. That is the look I have always gone for. What do you think?

Try a search on lifts. There is a ton of info on this site. To run 33's you will need 5.5" of lift, possibly some trimming and 6" plus and some trimming for 35's.

Positive Vibes, have you got any pictures of your Exp? It sounds pretty close to what I am wanting on mine. Its always nice to see it before you do it.

Do like Trckmagik did, go with 2" lift springs in the front, Warrior shackles on the back with the 3" PA body lift. He's running 35's and has no problem. We did have to do some cutting, also it has the Fiberglass fenders from Perry's. I think total he only spent about $300 on the lift itself and then I think about $275 for both front fiberglass fenders.

Here are some pics of his X:
