Ever since i got my tranny rebuilt my x has been getting the worst mpg. Before i was getting great mpg and loved it. Now its So bad that i dont even want to drive it and just might sell it. I love my x but cant keep putting money in it as if it were a v8.

how bad is bad mpg?

have you done any mods to it?

How's this for bad MPG I get about 10 mpg and that's my hwy driving. I need to get it up to 16-17 if I can. Maybe time to check out the thread by Aldive I think it's called my quest for 30 mpg.

jack- you get 10 with 35's and those gears. I think thats pretty good. I get 11.24 Hwy with just 31's and 3.73.

id say 12 at the lowest and highway bout 15-17

No mods Im bone stock

Ouch, I generally get about 16 mpg out of my truck. What did you have done to your transmission exactly? If they replaced the torque converter its possible they installed the wrong one.

Same

I had a 94 Explorer up until last may, it started to get really bad gas milage, about the same as Rkan121. I had my tranny rebuilt too, but I don't think thta had anything to do with it. Mileage, usage, or my driving habits. But who knows...

reset the system. It's in the manual.

Disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and follow the instructions for restarting.

the tranny job costs me $650 and yes they did replace the TC, also they noted to me that 3rd gear ( reverse) was very torn up. So i can imagine they did some gear work along with the clutches.

Now that I think of it my alternator is at the end of its life. Its just a matter of time. I not sure if that could affect my MPG.?ANyone?

Possible if it's not producing enough juice for a strong spark

I dont think its his alternator causing bad milage, if it was that bad his battery would probably be dead by now.

I would do the normal tune up things if you havent done them in a while. Plugs, wires, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, clean MAF, make sure tire pressure is good, etc.

I used to get good gas mileage then I started getting bad gas mileage. That could be due to the fact that I went from a Honda Accord to a Explorer with 33s. Hehe :p
