Has anyone put an aftermarket tube header on the '95 - '01 302? The real question is what fits the GT40P heads with the slanted plugs.

I had found the Ford Racing headers that claim to work. Google just doesn't understand 'Torque Master' at least as far as Ford headers are concerned.

Perhaps you could provide a link to them.

Torque Monster, not Master

Thanks, sorry about the master/monster.

These are not going to work as I need tight to the block shorty style to work with a swap into a Volvo 245.

Still back to the stainless Ford Racing as the only ones advertised to work.

For an engine swap I suggest you change to normal Ford head port heads, then you have hundreds of header choices. Spend the time to get heads like the GT40 or any aftermarket heads with the stock port locations. That would be easier than dealing with the so rare and few GT40P headers. Good luck,

The only headers I've used on our P-motor to Mustang bay swaps have been the Ford Racing headers. The ceramics were pointless as they discolored anyway, but the stainless ones worked great.

Ouu that sounds like its going to be a lot of fun! Do you have a build thread somewhere (maybe on another forum) ?

I am documenting the conversion but other than a lot of questions posted on a number of forums, have not started a real build thread. This is a fairly common swap and has put a lot of quality Volvo's . . . and Jaguars back on the road. It has been awhile since I drove the car as an 83 HP diesel. I suspect a 240 HP V8 may feel a little different. I live in the Georgia mountains and can identify a couple of roads that were beyond the stall speed of the 3 speed auto with 4 people aboard.

Best I could determine only MAC and Ford Racing sell a shorty header specific to the GT40P heads. Anything else involved a ball peen hammer and strange plug wires. The MACs were ceramic for $310, the Ford Racing stainless were $249. Have the Ford Racing (M-9430-P50) on order from Summit Racing.

If anyone is interested, I will post back the build thread.

Ditto, and hunt Michael Yount about his 302 Volvo. He's on the Corral and other forums, by that user name. He has done a ton of stuff to his, including the engine work twice. I don't think he started with a "P" engine, but he probably considered it. See if he has more informed opinions about that, and tips he can point you to.

I have been following Michael Yount and his Ford/Volvo conversions for some time. I would like to be like him when I grow up.

Got the Ford Racing headers today and it is going to go to 55 degrees tomorrow, after about 2 months of 20 degrees below normal temps, I may get a chance to try them.

Where is Al when we need him?
