I know there are many threads on this subject but I can't seem to find one that fits my problem. I can put it in gear, but its like driving a tank through a brick wall at times. I have to move the stick back and forth and side to side a lot for it to finally fall into gear. Any any attempt to put the truck in reverse is met with a nice grind before the gears catch and it goes into gear with a nice thud. This only happens every once and a while and a while and it seems to be when the truck is warmer. Other times the truck shifts smooth a glass. Any ideas on what it is? Anybody had the same issues?

Check the clutch adjustment.

Clutch Slave Cylinder is failing, very common. As it is inside the transmission housing, labor to replace is pretty high. In my experience, they fail every 100K miles, or so, starting with symptoms like you describe.

Could also be air stuck in the master cylinder - because of the way it's angled, it's difficult to completely bleed it out.

Or it could be bad/wrong transmission fluid. I've had good luck with Redline D4 and Mercon V - Amsoil MTF and Mobil multipurpose ATF both felt terrible.

If it seems to shift normally while standing still on level ground with engine off, the clutch is likely not disengaging sufficiently, just as the folks told you here. imp

Well, had everything pertaining to the clutch replaced. Clutch,slave/master cylinders , throw out bearing, flywheel resurface.......everything. Whatever the problem was, it's gone. Truck shifts smooth as ever. Only cost $691 of my very hard earned money.
