I bought the DORMAN Part # 594236
the shipping was very fast
but when I got it I opened box just to get a good look at it
and I notice that the rubber around Harmonic balancer was pilling off
so I mail rockauto and let them know about it
I do not know about the Balancer ,so I do not know if it is excess rubber
after I described to rockauto what i saw
they shipped replacement to me
I will get it today so I will let you
I would like to post a photo , but I do not know how to
Easiest way, is to become an elite member.
Otherwise, join Photobucket or the like. Select links and click on the one that says 'forums.'
Problem with Photobucket etc, is if you ever delete the photo, it gets removed from the forum as well.

Welcome to Explorer forum Anthony!
Wow! Your in Tokyo? That is cool, Explorers are everywhere.
I would think that a supercharged one would be pretty rare there also.
You are listed as Elite so you should be able to post pictures. Why you click on reply in the forum there is a box that comes up to type in. Scroll down to the next box, it will look like the first picture below. Then click on manage attachments and another box will pop up. Click Browse and search your computer for the picture you want to post. after selecting it you have to click upload too. Then close the manage attachments box and click on submit reply in the additional options box.

I'll go ahead and ask this here and now since I'll probably be needing one in the future (can't figure out why I feel a "mis" in park but engine is perfectly smooth in drive). and no SES light.
My 2003's manufacture date is 09/02 and it has this type of balancer on it:
But the parts catalog says that type is for "TO 03/02"
and that this type is for "FROM 03/02"
Do I buy what the catalog says to get or what looks the same as what is on it?
I don't know for sure so I would go for the one that looks like the original.
ASP has underdrive crank dampers and the part number is the same for Mustangs, Rangers, and Explorers, 4.0 sohc's.
2005-2010 Mustangs ASP526400
1990-2003 Ranger Explorer ASP526400
That would make me believe that at least they are all the same.
ok thank you
one more question
read about the Harmonic Balancer bolt
do I have to change the Harmonic Balancer bolt too ?
this going to be a do it your-self
Yes, you have to get a new harmonic balancer bolt. It is a special torque to deform bolt and cannot be re-used. It used to be a dealer only item but currently I see multiple sources..
