Yep, I think those are the only ones anymore. But, they seem to be getting real good reviews from members here. Plus, instead of just claiming HP and torque gains, they posted up dyno runs so you can see for yourself. If I wasn't doing a SAS build up at the moment I would get a pair for another project I want to do.
ah Torque Monster headers, man they are NICE!
I Installed a set in my Bronco II 5.0L project, you can see pictures and details in my conversion thread (see my signature)
They sound realy nice. A little more on the price than I expected! But from the looks of it they pay for them self in the long run.
If anybody knows where I can find some used one that I can get a little cheaper please let me know. I realy want a set but tight on cash at the moment.. Thanks, Eric
You can look on Ebay, I know there is a pair on there for about another week but I think it is just the company selling them on there. Any ways they are about a hundred bucks cheeper.
yeah tighten the manifold back to the engine and use locking manifold bolts.
The passenger side s notorious for coming loose.
If it is split or cracked then you can use factory parts, junk yard time.
I suggest the headers however if you plan to keep this truck for any amount of time and are looking to remove the most restrictive part of your otherwise powerful V8.
I noticed a huge difference with FMS headers. Torque monster headers get 8hp and 9tq over the FMS ones. Not a BIG difference but Anyhtign is better that the stock manifolds
OKay you guys the 96 Explorer 5.0L does not have the P heads.
Some headers will fit both the non P heads and the P heads. The difference is the angle of the spark plug coming out of the head.
The 97-01 Pushrod 5.0L has the P heads.
So if the headers fit 97 they should fit through the 01
The FMS headers are for sale all over the place, I have seen them from $280-460 at the local 5.0L shops in town.
The engines with the P heads use an external EGR (pipe from header to sensor) and the earlier intakes had internal EGR (no pipe)
so the headers should fit a 99 if they have the egr hook up also maybe they only list 96-98 because they stopped making them before 99 I don't know just guessing
they have the EGR hook up.
Torque monsters will fit all years of the Explorer 5.0L I believe.
If you dont need the EGR hookup you can plug it with a simple fitting
