Try EE, they sell JBAs, not much bang for the buck on those engines

any other suggestions? again all I see is headers for the OHV engine

Like spindle said, the only company I know of is JBA. And almost everyone I've heard that has them wasn't pleased.

in my opinion, as well as almost all real car enthusiats will say, you dont need headers unless already running every possible mod and trying to squeeze out the last few ponies....

About 3 RWHP on the SOHC V6,Been there, done that, is a waste of money.
Your OEM exhaust manifolds, are fine

if you could get headers for a 4.0 SOHC for $100 plus gaskets would it be worth it then? How does it affect the backpressure, is there still enough and does it sound good. I already have a flowmaster 50 series

the cost of headers is typically in the installation, even if you do it yourself :)
blood or $$$$
So the $$$$ is better spent on other more useful mods.
Headers = last of the intake and exhaust mods unless you are boosted. At least with the SOHC V6

Got 'em for mine from Explorer Express.Had to go directly to JBA's website for the part#'s... EE website wasn't correctly marked so here is a part#jb1674-1 and mine did come from EE. I would say they are worth the money if you have the other bolt on's! But if you are only adding a set of headers you won't get the gain your looking for.

I consider myself a real car enthusiast and strongly disagree with this statement. A properly designed set of long tube headers, along with tuning, give considerable hp gains on most engines. When combined with other breathing modifications, header gains can be as high as 40-50 rwhp on some engines. For example, on my '99 Camaro SS, I picked up 60 rwhp from a mild cam and long tube headers. Just the cam alone would have been worth about 20 rwhp. Just the headers alone would have been worth 25-30 rwhp. The two combined gave even bigger gains. On my '03 Corvette, I added long tube headers (with an off-road x-pipe), a cam, aftermarket heads, and tuning and picked up 120 rwhp. If I had not done the headers, I probably would have lost 50 rwhp. That is far from squeezing out the last few ponies. Just my $.02.

I think the problem for the Explorer is nobody make a long tube header for us. Shorty headers, like JBA is selling do not give significant hp gains....but to say that all about all header designs is not accurate.

Long tube headers are tough to make for a 4x4 with 4 cat converters and a t case :)

We were talking about the 4.0L SOHC in this thread.
The OHV 4.0L does get some benefits from headers, but you can also lose low end.
The 5.0L V8 is the one that has the very restrictive stock manifolds and benefits the most from headers.
