Headlamp switch keeps burning out!

I own a '92 Exploder xlt and I've owned it since '95. I go thru headlamp switches about once a year along with the harness plug that keeps melting. I do not run bright lights just the stock wattage bulbs. What it's doing now is the parking lights won't light up when I turn them on so I pop off the dash and stick a pencil inside to push on the plug and then the lights come on. This happens at least twice a month. I know that Ford had problemswith their headlamp switches causing cars to burn up but I thought they fixed that problem and it wasn't a truck problem. Anybody else have problems like that?

i have the same problem with my 93 Ranger i replaced the multi function switch when i first got it. Now i have headlights but no parking lights or tail lights and instrument panel lights
