'97 Eddie Bauer
Hey all, I have a problem with my 97 Eddie Bauer. The left low beam does not come on (the right side works, as does both high beams). The bulb works (I swapped bulbs between the right and left). The maxi fuse works, and the mini fuse in the dash is fine (checked both sides with a circut tester). There is no power going to the bulb socket. I am assuming there is a broken wire somewhere between the 10 amp fuse under the dash and the socket, or a messed up relay, but I don't see where it might be.

Any ideas?

Its most likely a problem with your LOM (light out module).... the feed for that particular light is "dead".... some people have fixed the LOM by taking it apart and "attacking" the appropriate circuit, others just replace the module.

Yeah, I did some more looking, and saw that the LOM may be my problem. The new question is, how do I get to it? I don't see any screws or buttons holding the cover onto the center console, and I don't want to start yanking on it and break something.

I am assuming the LOM is behind the info center controls....

can't really help on disassemble and yes I think the LOM is behind the console (at least in 96 reference). One thing before you go "crazy", you did check the "right" fuse.... there are two feeds for the headlights, right and left. From your first description, it isn't obvious that you checked them both.

I checked the "correct" fuses. It does appear to be the LOM. I found it, and got the light to come on when I wiggle the wires. I'm going to pull it out tonight to get a part number and try to get one from Ford. If its too much, or unavailable, I'll try to fix it myself.

FYI, the info center console comes loose just by pulling up and back. The LOM is attached to the inside right side of the console, with one screw holding it in place and a white plug in it.

Glad you got to it. I think that you are going to find that it is "cost effective" to fix the module... :-) From some of the posts, it doesn't appear to take much more than a bit of solder.

Didn't get to the thread in time...

Yes, to remove it, do like Curly says, "Pull hawduh, Moe, pull hawduh!!"

As for a replacement LOM, try www.car-part.com I've always had good luck locating items through them. :)
