On my Explorer, when I turn the headlight switch off and then turn the car off, the headlights stay on, regardless of the position of the switch. The car doesn't beep like it would if the switch was to the on position. Anybody know what this could be? Luckily, after five minutes or so the headlights would turn off..

Your multifunction switch may be going bad. Or you have auto headlights that aren't playing nice..

On the mirror (the rearview) there may be a sliding switch...I believe it is called auto lamps or twilight-sentinel that makes the lights come on at twilight. If it is all the way on the headlights will stay on for a max of 5 minutes. try moving the switch to the middle.

Wow, you're a lifesaver! Thanks alot, I slid the switch to the middle and I will see if that works.

Anyone know where the sensor is for the auto lamp function?
Thanks,
Steve
