So, Me and my 93' Explorer Occasionally visit the Country Back roads of Texas....Not a street light for miles! So Naturally I Turn on the good ol' HIGH-BEAMS, as to not Hit a Poor Deer or Run into some deep ditch! all is well for a few minutes then....BAM! NO LIGHTS! I push the knob in on the dash to turn off the lights (well, if they were on) and pull it back out and THEY COME BACK ON!(for a minute or two) I am stumped, HEEELLLPPP!!! This only happens when the Brights are in use!

Did they come on EVERY time you "re" pulled the knob? Or was it an intermittent thing? You could have a loose connection somewhere...

The low beams stay on just fine though?

The low beams are fine.... And yes every time I push off and pull back on, They are fine for a minute! Im stumped!

Also, I am working on a post Regarding Idling issues and Slow take off! If you know anything about these issues!

Hm, I doubt it would be a connection then, maybe your switch is shorting out, I would suggest trying a new switch, or at least one from a junkyard. I honestly dont know what else it could be, its gotta be something thats fine when cool, but once the high beams are on its getting to hot from resistance or something...

Well Im gonna try to replace the Knob and see if that helps!

Yea, id goto a local junkyard, you could probably score a few for like 5$ a piece and see if that works, then if that doesnt, I might try a cheap-o set of new bulbs and see if that works, I doubt that you have 2 bad high beams but I guess theres that 1 in a 87692346578263452645623 chance haha

my '94 did that once while on a trip in the colorado rockies. my problem was it did it in both high and low beams. luckly i had KC fogs mounted in the grill and drove all night to where i was goin. ford dealership replaced switch and all light related fuses. and its workin great since. if you do replace bulbs spend the extra money and get silverstar ultras. good luck.

I suggested some cheap-o bulbs just to see if it fixed the problem, but for permanent bulbs, go with the more expensive kind, or better yet HIDs :D

Where are you at in Commerce? I used to live in the neighborhood kiddie corner from Central HS

I would check the switch, I just had mine go bad last month. Sounds like the similar problem...
