Just came across a problem and not sure what to check. I went up to the Parts Store and when I turned the light switch to off the lights wouldn't go off. But they finally went off like they were on the delay. Well I turned that off. Well I started the Explorer and the lights came on again with the switch in the off position. I am not sure if it's the switch or something else. But to add a little more info. I was in the drive thew and heard a slight clicking noise but it went away and then came back then went away. So not sure what to look for. This is the first time I have had this happen.

I have a set of HID's installed and I don't think that can be a issue to worry about.

Are the headlights the HIDs? How are the headlights wired?

Clicking noise makes me think Relay.

The way it's acting makes me think either sticky relay or bad switch.

Sounds like the Ex has a Christine complex...

If there is clicking and the switch works, I'd guess relay also. That's what was wrong with my buddy's Acura, he had a similar issue. You could pull the switch and see if it's got the common Explorer melting switch issue as well.

What is strange. This morning it did the same thing. Come home on my lunch break and the lights and switch work normal. So I am thinking I may just swap out the switch and relay to be on the safe side.

Issue Fixed

Well I fell a Victim to my own sayings today. RTFM( Read The F*****Manuel). We test drove the Explorer and saw that it had a dimmer on the Rear view mirror. Well Since we didn't RTFM, it said it also turns on the lights when the sensor learns it's dark enough for them to turn on. Also the farther the switch is turned to the right, the longer the lights stay on after the Explore is turned off. So now just waiting for the Explore to dry off a little more before I go out and finish my HID fog light install.

Hah yeah that happens sometimes. Thanks for the feedback.
