So the heat shield came off of the pipe that crosses under the engine. Is this going to cause any problems?

If its the heat shield right before the y-pipe mines been off for years with no problems.

Awesome....thanks Tex

If it's close to the tranny I'd figure something out. What's the #1 killer of trannies? HEAT.

If I remember correctly the heat sheild is on the underside of the pipe, not the side facing the engine/tranny.

I've been looking for a reason to get a aux tranny cooler anywho.

The Heat sheild on the underside of the exhaust are to keep you from catching brush and tall grass on fire.

The Heat sheilds on top protect the body/Trans from heat. If it's close to the body I would try to replace it as this can cause condesation on the inside of your truck under the carpet. This can cause rust.

Hmm never thought of the rust issue. You learn something new every day. Good tip
