I now have a clicking behind th radio ever time I turn the control knob to hot but when I put it back on cold the clicking stops. Of course this is not the time of year to have cold air blowing. Any help before I freze

thanks

A friend of mine had this happen to him as well. There was a switching problem and the dealer had to fix it. Better bring it on in...

I have the same problem with my 03 limited after you drive for a while ice cold outside air comes in on the passenger side I took it to the dealer they said no problem found! yea right. as if i was just want to spend 50 bucks for nothing. Help, anybody have any idea's i spent $800 bucks on my 98 explorer to replace the blend door now my 03 acting up!

I have the same problemon my 2002 Explorer. I have also read where many others are having the same problem. We took theExplorer in to see what theproblem was and the Ford dealership said it was the Blend Door and the cost to repair it is about $ 800-900.00 dollars. Wonder if there will be a recall on this issue. I have read many posting on this issue and it appears Ford is awear if the problem that begin back in 97.

I just got an 04 XLT. I was driving with my girlfriend, and she was complaining that cold air was coming in on her side. I couldnt figure it out. My side was HOT..lol.

I have an 02' EB with Dual EATC and rear AC with this kind of problem. The front heat (both driver and passenger) works fine but the rear heat never comes on.

I tried using the fron control for the rear but it's the same.

You have two actuators ( front and back). The back one is located behind the rear/side interior panel ( i think driver side) Pick up a 02/03 Haynes Manual(16.00). They show good step by step pictures for the rear. Looking at the pictures ,I figure it you should be able to replace the rear in a couple of hours( just guessing). I had to dig the front one out to fix my problem. I assume the back will cost about the same as the front.I paid 48.00 for the front. I had Advance Auto order it with next day delivery.I did not even check to see what the ford dealership would sale me one for.

Good Luck
Glenn

Hey do you think the 03 has the same problem that my 98 did my 98 didn't switch from windshield to floor or vents this time they switch but there is no heat on the right side!

Does it make any difference if you switch off the dual control and just use the single temp setting for the front?

Thanks Glenn. I'm going to give that a try as soon as I get a chance.

my 03 blows out hot air on floor on drivers side when i have it set to defrost

the fix I describe above is just for when you dont have any control of the air temp. As far as where it bloews from that appears to be from the different vacums lines under the dash. I have not messed with these
