I know what the difference is. But what should I get the fogs or driving. I plan on swapping silverstars to improve my driving light power. So, I was thinking fogs, as sometime along the line I might buy a roof rack and mount the driving lights there. I think that they would do better mounted up high than the fogs would. Any, input or advice on this setup? Thanks:D .

fog down below and put the driving one on the rack.

If you don't have good fogs now then get fogs.

I agree...fogs you will use 90% of the time.

A wiring harness is pretty much a wiring harness. The difference will be in the reflectors and lenses.

i just ordered 2 hella 500 off road lights off ebay (whole kit) for 60 dollars. I'm waiting for them to arrive! i'll post a pic after there on. I didn't know they were like 70 at pepboys. oh well.still the same thing

the 500 driving lights are way too intense for [about] anything except off roading.

i agree with the other guys, FOGS are the way to go.

i put them on my '98, it made a huge difference!
just about a 180 degree field of vision

i had the clear fogs and put 85 watt hella yellowstar 'yellow' h3 bulb in mine

the wiring harness' for the 500's are the same.

Thanks peter,:)

I wasn't planning on even using the fogs on any street execpt for back roads when no one was on them. I would hate to blind somone and have them hit me head on:D . Well, I only need 470 more dollars till, I can start this venture, looks like its delayed untill summer.:(

How can these be waaay to intense? They are only 55W. Thats what a normal low beam is. Do the 55W driving lights really give out that much light? I'm looking for something to help my dark-back-road-high-beams-aren't-enough problem, and figured the Hellas weren't bright enough since my factory highs are 65W.

55 watts aimed down at the road and 55 watts aimed down the road are two big differences.
Fog lights "reach out" about as far as your low beams and illuminate the sides & dirrectely in front of the veh. better than your low beams. Properly aimed fogs wont bother on comming traffic.
Driving lights are ment to illuminate a much narrower area beyond your high beams.
The difference in beam patterns can be seen on the piaa web site.

I wish I had gone with the 500 Fog's instead. I can't remember the last time I used my friving lights:mad:

if you have the hella 500's, you can buy replacement 500 'fog' lenses.

they are around $28.00-$30.00 each.

that's what i did. you can use your fogs ALL the time and not blind anyone and also SEE.

use 'em, get your moneys worth

peter

I could buy a complete new set of 500 Fog's for the price of just the lenses and have any kind of light I need.
