Hello everyone. I am a new member and I am trying to fix the automatic shifter on my father in laws Explorer. It's a 1996 model and I have seen many things posted about torx screws that can back out at end of shift tube and cause slop, but upon inspection I found these to be tight. I dropped the column today and examined the shift shaft in it. The bushings are still in place, but the shaft moves and slides back and forth within the caps. It feels like it needs to be replaced. Just seeing what you guys think or if you have any other ideas. I hope what I wrote here makes sense. Thanks!
Greg
