hello this is my first post so please bear with me....the problem i have is with my heater the problem is when i first start the truck it takes about 10-15 mins for the heather to start blowing hot air even though the engine temp is in the normal operating range right around the middle of the gauge so if any body has any ideas or knows of this problem i would really appreciate it and i'd like to take this chance to say thanks to everybody who's posted here i've used your fixes on a couple of occasions like the rear wiper not touching the window and also the ever present lower intake o-rings boy was that interesting......thank you in advance.....brian :exporange  :D

Check the operation of your heater control valve under the hood at the heater core (search for it)

This sucker bypasses the heater core with the hot coolant until you need it. When you turn on your heater it should open and allow coolant to flow through the heater core.

If you have never changed your thermostat and you have over 120K miles you may consider it, great time for a coolant system flush

Your truck does blow hot air once its warmed up though correct?

The bypass only works if the right hand selector (temp and fan controls) is somewhere other than in the off position.

Thsi can also occur if your thermostat is stuck open, it will take too long for the water to get up to operating tempature, if at all.

Replace the thermostat, they are like $9

thank you for the quick response i've already changed the thermostat about 2 mths ago i'll check the bypass you mentioned do you have a description what i should look for....thank you:thumbsup:
oh yeah it does warm up correctly and yes after about 15 to 20 mins it begins to blow hot air.........

As your mother may have asked......."Did you flush???"

It may be time to flush the system....might be a partial blockage in the heater core.....and re-fill w/ proper anti-freeze mix.

Aloha, Mark
