Hello how's everyone here doing ? I am very new in this forum and in serious need of some good help here please, my explorer 2000 sport truck when it gets cold or rains and then the humidity comes out it starts but the rpm's don't stay even I have to keep my foot in the gas pedal for a while till it warms up sort of speak and then stays like nothing happens . This does not happens all the time only once in a while but it is annoying and I don't really know what to do ,,so please someone give an idea as one mechanic said to me that it might be a gasket in the manifold that has a hole or something like it , please help ...thank you !!:exp:  :dunno: :can:

Welcome to the Board!!

Sounds like it could be the Idle Air Control valve (IAC). It's job is to control the idle (much like a choke on a carbureted car) when the engine is cold. It's a common problem with many Ford Vehicles. When you're having the problem, unplug it and see if it steadies the idle. The IAC is located on the side of the throttle body.

If you do a search here for IAC, you should find lots of info and pix.

Good Luck.

thank you !!!

Thank you for letting me know about the IAC never thought about that, I am looking for pics and sure hope thats what it is , Ill keep you posted if i see the pics and try the solution given to me from you ..many thx.
