Hey guys, just stopping in to say hello! I bought this Explorer a few months back when the torque converter seal went out on my Sable.

I paid $500 for it and drive it home. Since then I have done intake gaskets (coolant leak and lean codes), a couple ball joints, a tie rod end, replaced the hatch due to rust, and some maintenance things. Performed a few modifications as well, found a Recaro seat set up for an explorer, mountaineer grille swap, rubber cargo liner, premium audio radio, and a few smaller things.

I never expected to like this thing as much as I do, it was kind of just an in between vehicle. I have decided it is sticking around. Has the ohv 4.0 auto 4.10s and 216k miles, runs and drives good, but needs a few things. I have a load related vibration that is pretty severe, punch it when it is hot and it will shake and refuse to go anywhere, let off a little and vibration/sound goes away, seems to not want to exceed about 3500 rpms, maybe plugged up cats? Or is it pretty normal for these transmissions to shift pretty early? Haven't looked into it yet. 4wd works great but makes some noise up front. Driver's door is about to fall off, the pillar has rusted away around the upper hinge (local junkyard is cutting off a solid piece for me)

Took it on an over 500 mile round trip camping adventure to an 80 acre lot my family owns, ran great without a single issue.

And now is where I mention I am a bit of a hoarder. The explorer is only one of 8 cars I own.. I will try to keep these short and sweet haha

Of course I mentioned the Sable, it's a 2000, every option but traction control. And true to my nature I cannot keep anything stock. It has very rare Roush lowering springs, bigger sway bars, exhaust, lights, interior swap, brake swaps, and lots more.

Then there is my Cougar, 2002 with a 3.0 from a taurus, svt contour heads, a ported upper intake, headers, y pipe, exhaust, quaife torque biasing differential, rod shift conversion (first and only I am told), Euro suspension, shaved hatch (minus the wiper), plus lots more.

Then there is my 2004 Volvo S60R this one is pretty much stock for now. I have parts for a custom grille, headlight retrofit and a few other things but since the car is broke I haven't really touched that stuff. This car I got at less than half of book value because the clutch is going, 3rd gear is gone, needs an axle shaft, engine mounts are done, control arm bushings are shot, rear end links are broken, a few dings and dents and some damage, and so forth. It really is a project that I have been putting off.

I also have a 97 contour se. Has a torque biasing differential, svt body kit, lowering springs, low mile engine, New clutch, rebuilt trans. This one is tentatively for sale.

Also soon to be for sale is my 92 Ranger, got it cheap with a good amount of new parts. I am the second owner. Needs a new 4.0.

Also have a 77 Dodge Ramcharger and a 78 ranchero that really aren't worth mentioning much about.

Hopefully that wasn't too much for an intro, sadly that was just the cars. My name is Chris, I live in central MN went to school for both auto service and for auto body, unfortunately I haven't done anything with either yet. Still trying to figure out what I want to do..

Sorry for the novel guys, hope to have a good stay here, from the little bit of reading I have done this seems like the place to be!

A big welcome to you and your Fleet of vehicles :D ;)

Welcome to the site.
