Hello all, my name is Garret and im glad i joined your forum. I currently drive a 01 Cherokee but have been looking for a 2000 explorer limited with no luck. Anyways my dad has a 1993 explorer XLT that he bought new. Well when he bought it he had a factory fog light kit installed by the dealer. Well i had to remove the dash face to chase a squeak in the dash and unhooked all the switches. Now the only problem is now i dont know how the fog light wiring goes back together. It has three wires, one is orange that runs to the relay, and two others that run to the headlight switch wiring. Here are some pictures of the switch

Check out this wiring diagram for a Limited model with fog lamps. The fog light switch is on it. Note the wiring colors are on there and what they do.

I've also attached a pinout of the factory Limited fog light switch connector (from the female side) that plugs into the switch. Note on the wiring diagram it is connector ID #C268.

I can't quite tell in your picture but it almost looks like a different set of connectors... doesn't look like the factory fog lamp switch, maybe something aftermarket was used?

Where would the factory fog lamp switch be mounted at. I found the wiring under the hood next to each headlight but I dont know where the relay is located plus trying to find where the wiring is under the dash is driving me nuts. Any pics if possible please. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

It is typically mounted below the rear window wiper/washer and rear window defrost switches.

I found that I dont have the correct trim panel by looking at some 91 - 94 models in the junk yard. None of them had fog lights though. Mine only has 2 mounting locations instead of three. Now to find some pics of the wiring under the dash.

91 mounted those switches a little differently. You should be able to retrofit the newer style with little effort. On my 94 there were only two switches (not a Limited model, those had 3 as they had fogs), so in the third switch spot it was a blank. I just cut it out with a Dremel and inserted a factory fog switch from a junkyard Limited, though I could have just swapped the whole Limited trim panel. You may want to try that.

When I installed fogs I ran all new wiring and a dedicated high amperage relay. Might be a good idea to start from scratch like I did, then you can have your setup ready for high draw lamps and you know none of the wires are damaged, pinched, or corroded. It is pretty simple and the factory switch works great if you hook it up right. Get the switch's illumination (dimmer) power by tapping a nearby switch. Use the factory style fog switch to activate a good dedicated relay for the fogs.

This switch that he has, came with the E9TZ 15200A Fog Lights Kit, that for what I researched, was a dealer kit, for the 1991/93 Explorers and Rangers. It looks like the stock switch that came optional from factory in 1994, but it´s a little smaller and doesn´t have illumination, only a pilot light that indicates on/off. I have both switches here.
