Hello, Question

Hello Everyone, my name is Bryan and even though I don't own a Explorer, I do own a 95 Lincoln Town Car. I have been looking for a way to replace the faulty light bulbs in my EATC and when I Googled it, this site came up. So if no one has a problem with me asking, and I am sure its been asked many times before,

I read that you can use the 5mm bulbs with a resistor, my question is what voltage are the factory bulbs in the EATC, 2 volts, 12 volts??? and why can't you just buy that LED in 5mm to match the correct voltage?
